Hyderabad Battered By Intense Rains: Secunderabad Most Affected

Hyderabad, Sept 18 (Maxim News): Heavy rains have continued to batter Hyderabad with several core regions of Secunderabad, especially Musheerabad area witnessing a maximum of 184.4 mm of rainfall, between Wednesday night and Thursday early morning.

Based on the rainfall data from Telangana Development Planning Society (TSDPS), between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, as many as four different locations in Musheerabad were pummeled with intense rainfall ranging from 184.5 mm to 147.5 mm, which is categorized as very heavy rainfall by India Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad. Overall, a total of 26 different locations, a majority of them in core Secunderabad region, received very heavy rainfall that ranged from 102.5 mm to 184.5 mm.

The five localities in Musheerabad that were battered in the intense downpour include Tallabasthi community hall area (184.5 mm), MCH Colony library Building area (174.8 mm), Bholapkur community hall (155.5 mm) and Chilkaluda area, which recorded 147.5 mm of rainfall.

Another core region of Secunderabad, the Mondamarket region received 146.8 mm of rainfall, while areas in and around New Mettuguda Primary School that falls under Marredpally received 140.5 mm followed by Jawaharnagar community hall area in Musheerabad, which recorded 136.5 mm of rainfall.

Some of the other areas in Secunderabad that reported more than 100 mm of rainfall include Bansilalpet (135 mm), Sitaphalmandi Basthi community hall (134 mm) and Pattigadda, which received 128.3 mm of rainfall.

Hyderabad’s West Drenched: UoH, Gachibowli, Miyapur

Apart from Secunderabad, the north-western parts of Hyderabad also witnessed intense spells of downpour. The University of Hyderabad region in Serilingampally witnessed 144.8 mm of rainfall, JPN Nagar Community Hall, Miyapur area of Chandanagar witnessed 130.8 mm, MMTS Lingampally area received 130 mm of rainfall. The Gachibowli area in Serilingampally (Chandanagar) received 123.5 mm while Jubilee Hills, Shaikpet area received 108.3 mm. (Maxim News)
