List Of Items Will Be Reduced Due To New GST Rates From Sept 22

Hyderabad, Sept 21 (Maxim News): Good news for Indians will come into effect from tomorrow (September 22, 2025). As per the recent announcement by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) slabs on daily essential items have been reduced. With this, many essential items like daily food items, shampoos, and household appliances will now be available at lower prices (New GST List September 2025).

In particular, the GST rate on life and health insurance services has been reduced to zero. With these changes, the tax burden on more than 400 items will be reduced.

List Of Items Will Be Reduced Due To New GST Rates From Sept 22

his is a real relief decision mainly for the middle class people. But the tax on luxury and sin goods will continue to be up to 40 percent.

New GST Rates List 2025: Item-wise Details

5 percent rate (no change)

Clothing and clothing accessories worth less than Rs. 2500

Cotton quilts worth less than Rs. 2500

Other textile items (less than Rs. 2500)

Items reduced from 18 percent to 0 percent

Military equipment parts (ejection seats, drone batteries, naval weapons, etc.)

Cut and polished diamonds up to 25 cents imported under the Diamond Imprint Authority

Artworks, antiques

Items reduced from 12 percent to 0 percent

UHT Milk, Cheese (Packaged), Pizza Bread, Khakhra, Chapati, Roti

Certain medications (e.g., onasemnogene neparvovec, axitinib)

Notebooks, exercise books, pencil sharpeners, crayons

Items reduced from 12 percent to 5 percent

Condensed milk, butter, ghee, cheese

Footwear worth less than Rs. 2500

Cotton and jute handbags

Wood, Rattan, Bamboo Furniture

Kerosene stove, lanterns, sewing machines

Dry fruits (almonds, hazelnuts, pistachios, etc.)

Tender coconut water (packaged)

Namkeen, Diabetic Foods

Agricultural machinery, solar energy equipment

Items reduced from 18 percent to 5 percent

Talcum powder, shampoo, hair oil, toothpaste

Sugar confectionery (excluding Mishti and Batasha)

Chocolates, cakes, biscuits

Coffee and tea extracts

Ice cream, mineral water (unsweetened)

Items reduced from 28 percent to 18 percent

Air conditioners, dishwashers

Television sets, set top boxes

Petrol/LPG/CNG vehicles with engine capacity below 1200cc

Diesel vehicles with engine capacity less than 1500cc

Buses (except those running on biofuels)

Goods increased from 5 percent to 18 percent

Coal, lignite, peat

Goods increased from 12 percent to 18 percent

Clothing, cotton quilts worth more than Rs. 2500

Some types of paper and paperboard

Items that have increased from 28 percent to 40 percent

Pan masala

Tobacco products (cigarettes, cigars, other forms of tobacco)

Caffeinated beverages, carbonated fruit drinks

Cars with an engine capacity of more than 1200cc

Motorcycles with an engine capacity greater than 350cc

Airplanes, yachts for personal use

Revolvers, pistols

Items that have increased from 18 percent to 40 percent

Other non-alcoholic beverages

Tax on luxury goods increased to 40 percent
