Rajnath Singh lays foundation for NDRF 10th battalion

Union Minister Rajnath Singh assures to expedite greyhounds, RAF, CRPF proposals of AP

Vijayawada, Jan 9 (Maxim News): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh assured to set up a greyhounds training unit, CRPF and Rapid Action Force to Andhra Pradesh.

Praising the role of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), he said that the NDRF won international acclaim by participating in rescue operations in Nepal and Japan.

The Union Home Minister laid foundation for 10th battalion of NDRF at Kondapavuluru village in Krishna district on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Home Minister said the NDRF received international acclaim by taking part in rescue operations during earth quake in Nepal and Japan. He said the Japan ministers praised the role of NDRF for not only rescuing people alive but showing same spirit to unearth the bodies from the debris during earth quake. The humanitarian approach in NDRF operations impressed the foreign leaders, he said.

The Union Minister said that the NDRF should adopt pro active role and further improve it’s performance.

Responding to the plea of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for sanctioning of a greyhounds training unit, RAF and CRPF battalion, the Union Minister promised to expedite the proposals. He said that the CRPF force was sanctioned to AP, but was delayed due to elections in some of the northern states.

Earlier addressing the meeting Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting M Venkaiah Naidu said that the central government has been giving priority for Andhra Pradesh as it suffered loss due to bifurcation. He showered praises on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for his relentless efforts for the development of the state. He said Modi government has been giving top priority for Polavaram project.

Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said Andhra Pradesh was more prone to natural calamities including cyclones. He said that greyhounds training unit should be sanctioned to state. He said the state government ready to allott 60 acres of land at Visakhapatnam to set up Rapid Action Force unit. He said that the central government should give priority to sanction several pending units for the state.

NDRF director general RK Pachnanda welcomed the dignataries. The NDRF forced displayed various rescue operations.

Union Minister of state for Science and Technology YS Chowdary, Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa, Ministers Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Kollu Ravindra, Machilipatnam MP K Narayana Rao, Gannavaram MLA V Vamsimohan, ZP chairperson Gadde Anuradha and others were present. (Maxim News)
