Telangana Tops In Cotton Production In Country, Centre Will Buy Till Last Quintal: Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad, Oct 17 (Maxim News): Union Minister Kishan Reddy has clarified that the Central Government will purchase cotton in full. Speaking to the media on Friday, he said that cotton is the most widely grown crop in Telangana along with rice. Cotton is cultivated in 45 lakh acres in the state. He said that more than 22 lakh farmers are cultivating cotton. He revealed that like last year, the Cotton Corporation of India will purchase it this year too. He said that the state government is also providing full support. He advised cotton farmers not to fall into the hands of middlemen and get cheated. He announced that the Central Government will purchase up to the last quintal.

He said that cotton will be purchased through CCI at a price of Rs. 8,110 per quintal. Cotton production is increasing in Telangana. Telangana is ahead in cotton production in the country. The Union Minister said that the number of purchase centers has been increased by 12. A total of 122 purchase centers are functioning. He said that reforms are being brought in cotton production. A Kisan app has been launched for cotton cultivation in nine regional languages. If farmers register in the app, they can sell cotton at the purchase centers through a slot. He said that ginning mills have been selected for cotton cleaning and transportation. He said that crop yields will double due to high density plantation. He said that people of Akola region of Maharashtra are doing high density plantation. He said that if necessary, farmers will be taken to Maharashtra to create awareness about high density plantation.

He said that from next year, our farmers will work to do high-density plantations. He said that the Kisan app will be available from Diwali. He said that the minimum support price has increased by 100 percent in ten years. Union Minister Kishan Reddy said that the government is taking strict action against fake seeds. Those who sell fake seeds are being sent to jail under the PD Act. (Maxim News)
