Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Traffic Police continued its strict enforcement against traffic violations, with 212 motorists facing penalties for drunk driving across Abids, Chikkadapally, Saifabad, and Gandhinagar police limits. The hearings were conducted on October 18 at the Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Nampally.

According to the Traffic Assistant Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, 187 of the offenders were fined ₹3,100 each, while 25 others were sentenced to imprisonment and fined a total of ₹99,900. The court imposed a cumulative penalty of ₹6,79,600 in these cases.
In a separate crackdown, 147 motorists were penalised for using mobile phones while driving, with each fined ₹1,100, bringing the total fines to ₹1,61,700. Additionally, seven minors caught driving vehicles were fined ₹2,100 each, totaling ₹14,700.

The Traffic Police said the ongoing enforcement drive aims to curb accidents caused by reckless driving and to promote public awareness about road safety and compliance with traffic laws.
