OU Successfully Conducted Interdisciplinary Program On “Understanding Learning Disabilities Awareness
Hyderabad, Oct 24 (Maxim News): An Interdisciplinary Programme on “Understanding Learning Disabilities: Awareness for Inclusion and Empowerment” was successfully organized by the Departments of Linguistics, Psychology, and Education at the University College of Arts & Social Sciences, Osmania University, Hyderabad, on 24th October 2025.
The event was held in recognition of October as International Learning Disability Awareness Month and was aligned with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes inclusion and equal learning opportunities for all.
The program began with an inspiring keynote address by Prof. Jayanthi Narayan, who emphasized the importance of inclusive education and the need to create learning environments that empower individuals with learning disabilities.
The gathering was further addressed by Guest of Honors Prof. C. Kaseem and Prof. Rabindranath K. Murthy, who highlighted the significance of interdisciplinary collaboration in understanding and addressing diverse learning needs.

The technical sessions featured distinguished speakers from reputed institutions. Dr. Ambady K. G., Lecturer in Special Education, NIEPID, Secunderabad, delivered a talk on “Beyond the Label: Higher Education and Career Pathways in Specific Learning Disabilities.”
Dr. G. V. N. Gayatri, TSRS, Hyderabad, spoke on “Psychological Aspects of Learning Disabilities,” shedding light on emotional and cognitive factors influencing learning. Dr. Sharada Mani Nalla, EFLU, Hyderabad, presented insights on “Interrelations between Language and Literacy,” emphasizing the linguistic dimension of learning challenges.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 250 attendees, including faculty members, research scholars, and students from various disciplines. Participants provided positive and constructive feedback, appreciating the program’s relevance, insightful discussions, and interdisciplinary approach.
The coordinators of the program were Dr. C. S. Swathi (Linguistics), Dr. P. Swathi (Psychology), and Dr. J. Lalitha (Education), who were actively supported by students from all three departments.
The event concluded on a note of collective commitment toward promoting awareness, inclusion, and empowerment of individuals with learning disabilities in academic and social spaces. (Maxim News)
