Jubilee Hills By Polls: Voters tally hits 4,01,365; 58 candidates in fray
- RV Karnan unveils final roll
- Four BU setup with one VVPAT per booth for bypoll
Hyderabad, Oct 24: Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency now has a total of 4,01,365 voters, the District Election Officer RV Karnan announced while releasing the final electoral roll for the by-election.
He said the list comprises 2,08,561 male voters and 1,92,779 female voters.
He added that, after the election notification, the constituency saw an increase of 2,383 voters, reflecting ongoing enrollments and corrections completed during scrutiny.
Briefing the media on Friday, RV Karnan said enforcement teams have seized Rs 2.84 crore so far as part of model code and expenditure control measures.
He also reported the seizure of 512 litres of liquor valued at Rs 3.69 lakh.
Therefore, officials are maintaining close vigil to curb inducements and ensure a level playing field. The drive will continue through polling, with flying squads and static surveillance teams coordinating daily.
On polling arrangements, the officer confirmed that 58 candidates remain in the fray for the Jubilee Hills by-election.
Given the large candidate count, each polling booth will deploy four Ballot Units along with one VVPAT.
This configuration is designed to accommodate the longer candidate list on EVMs while preserving the voter-verifiable paper audit trail.
He noted that training and mock drills are planned to help polling personnel manage the multi-unit setup smoothly.
RV Karnan underlined that logistical planning is aligned to the expanded EVM configuration, including power backups, queue management, and voter guidance materials at booths.
Meanwhile, sector officers have been tasked with additional checks on cabling and placement so that all Ballot Units are accessible and clearly labeled. Then, on poll day, technical support teams will be stationed to handle contingencies and reduce downtime, ensuring voter flow remains steady.
The official said the seizure statistics and readiness measures reflect an integrated approach to conduct a free, fair, and inducement-free by-election. He urged voters to verify their names in the final list and carry valid identification to the booth.
Also, he encouraged early-hour voting to avoid peak queues, especially in high-density localities.
Later, after polls close, standard procedures for VVPAT verification and secure storage will be followed before counting as per the notified schedule.
