Umeed Portal | Hyderabad, Oct 27: The digitisation of Waqf properties on the Umeed Portal has gathered pace in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, with hundreds of institutions now listed online.

The Telangana Waqf Board has uploaded details of 500+ Waqf institutions, striving to become a leader in data transparency and digital management.

Board CEO Mohd. Asadullah is actively driving this progress, aiming for Telangana to outpace other states in portal integration, said elected member Abul Fateh Syed Bandagi Badshah Quadri.

Meanwhile, Bandagi Badshah Quadri. claimed that Andhra Pradesh Waqf Board has successfully uploaded data from about 200+ institutions that are under direct management.

He further said that AP Board under CEO Md Ali written to the Ministry of Minorities Affairs, requesting an extension of four months beyond the current deadline of December 6, 2025.
Bandagi Badeshah said that preparations are underway for both Telugu states to jointly write another appeal, citing the need for more time to comply with the portal’s requirements.

Sources in the Ministry of Minorities Affairs confirmed that approximately 30,000 entries have been recorded on the Umeed Portal so far, with Punjab State and Himachal Pradesh leading in terms of the number of Waqf institutions uploaded.

These states have set a benchmark as they possess a significant number of properties under direct management, facilitating easier integration onto the platform.

Despite the push for technological advancement, internal challenges remain. Telangana Waqf Board Chairman Syed Azmathullah Hussaini appears more involved in political duties than in the operational affairs of the Board, which has added pressure on CEO Asadullah to ensure the state remains competitive in this nationwide drive.

As the December deadline approaches, both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are pressing for an extension to ensure complete and accurate digitisation of their Waqf assets.

Their coordinated efforts reflect a larger commitment to accountability and efficient management of minority resources.

Recently, A Waqf registration training workshop was organised by Syed Ali Akbar Nizamuddin Hussaini Sabri, President of the Association of Telangana Sajjadanasheen, Mutawallis and Kidmat Guzaran of Waqf, at Dargah Shah Khamosh (RH), Nampally.

The session focused on helping Waqf mutawallis understand the online document uploading process and registration procedures.

The training was conducted by Waqf staff Abdur Rahman, Yousuf Pasha, Mohd Ghouse and Mohd Samad who had earlier received training from the Umeed Portal staff of the Ministry of Minority Affairs.

The Umeed Portal has been introduced to simplify the documentation and management process of Waqf properties across India.
