Hyderabad, Oct 27 (Maxim News): Once again, a huge amount of cannabis was seized at the Rajiv Gandhi International airport in Shamshabad. The movement of hydroponic (soil-free) cannabis grown abroad to India has increased recently. DRI (Directorate of Revenue Intelligence) officials have increased their vigilance against those bringing cannabis from abroad in this manner.
On receiving information that a large amount of hydroponic cannabis was being transported to Hyderabad from Bangkok, DRI Hyderabad Zonal Unit officials conducted surveillance at the airport.
A passenger from Bangkok was stopped in Hyderabad. When her luggage was checked, packets containing a greenish substance in the form of a lump were found at the bottom, which tested positive for cannabis. A total of 4.15 kg of hydroponic cannabis was seized during these searches. The value of this in the open market is Rs. 4.15 crore, DRI officials said. The passenger, who brought cannabis from Bangkok, was arrested under the NDPS Act. (Maxim News)
