High Alert in Vijayawada as Police Step Up Cyclone Precautions
Vijayawada/Hyderabad, Oct. 28 (Maxim News): : Vijayawada Police have placed the city on high alert in view of the approaching ‘Michaung’ cyclone.
Commissioner Rajasekhar Babu said all necessary safety measures are being implemented to prevent loss of life or property. Police Remove Risky Structures and Strengthen Surveillance
Commissioner Rajasekhar Babu, along with police teams, inspected the Chitti Nagar hill area, which is prone to landslides and storm-related risks.
He said hazardous hoardings were removed as a preventive step and that vulnerable trees and branches were cut down to avoid accidents.
Traffic control measures have been strengthened to ensure smooth movement across the city. The entry of heavy vehicles such as lorries and tankers into Vijayawada has been restricted until weather conditions stabilize.
The police have also deployed surveillance through CCTV monitoring in residential areas, particularly for citizens who move to rehabilitation centers.
The Integrated Command Control Centre at the Collectorate is coordinating with departments to manage emergency response.
Rajasekhar Babu urged the public to cooperate with authorities and make full use of government assistance during the cyclone period.
He assured that police and civic teams are fully prepared to handle any eventuality and maintain public safety. (Maxim News)
