UMEED Portal: Dargah Association meet Revanth Reddy Urges Six-Month Extension
- CM Revanth Reddy assures action, proposal to Centre promised
UMEED Portal | Hyderabad, Oct.30: The Telangana Districts Darga Association (TDDA) has appealed to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to extend by six months the deadline for enrollment of Waqf institutions on the UMEED Central Portal, citing the need for more time to complete documentation across the state.
The association said the extension would help authorized representatives gather, verify, and submit old records that are not readily accessible. The request aims to ensure full and accurate participation by Waqf institutions.
In a letter dated October 29, 2025, TDDA President Syed Gulam Afzal Biabani (Khusro Pasha) asked the Chief Minister to forward a formal proposal to the Central Government seeking an extension.
The Central Government earlier directed all Waqf institutions to register their properties on the UMEED Central Portal by December 6, 2025, under the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency, and Development (UMEED) Act, 1995.
Therefore, the state-level appeal seeks additional time within the national framework.

According to TDDA, many authorized signatories and custodians are currently outside Telangana or living abroad, which complicates retrieval and verification of legacy records before the current deadline.
The association requested the State Government to approach the Central Portal authorities and the Ministry of Minority Affairs for a six-month extension.
Meanwhile, TDDA said more time would smoothen compliance and improve completeness of entries.
Responding to the representation, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy assured the TDDA delegation of full support. He said he would take up the matter with the Modi Government to secure the required extension.
Also, he indicated that the state would facilitate the process to help Waqf institutions enroll without gaps. Then, the proposal is expected to be placed before the Union government authorities.
The UMEED Central Portal seeks to build a unified national database of Waqf institutions and properties to improve management, transparency, and accountability.
TDDA said the proposed extension would help Telangana’s Waqf institutions engage efficiently with the portal and avoid errors due to rushed uploads.
Therefore, the association argued that additional time serves both compliance and data quality.
Apart from Mutawallis and Sajjadanasheen, they were accompanied by Mohammad Ali Shabbir, Advisor to the Government of Telangana for SC, ST, BC and Minorities; MLC Mirza Rahmath Baig Quadri; MLA Kausar Mohiuddin; and Faheem Qureshi, Vice Chairman and President of the Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society (TMREIS).
