Private Colleges In Telangana To Boycott Exams
Hyderabad, Nov. 3: The Federation of Private Higher Educational Institutions in Telangana has decided to boycott examinations from tomorrow.
The move comes amid an ongoing indefinite strike demanding the release of pending fee reimbursement dues by the state government.
The federation had already called for a statewide shutdown of private colleges, including engineering, pharmacy, management, B.Ed, and degree institutions, from November 3.
On Sunday, it announced that all examinations scheduled from November 4 would be boycotted. The federation also announced a meeting with college staff on November 8 in Hyderabad to discuss the next phase of the agitation.
Federation Intensifies Statewide Protest
Federation chairman Ramesh Babu said the strike would continue until the government releases 50 percent of the arrears. He added that the protest would not end until at least ₹5,000 crore is disbursed.
The federation plans to organize a large public meeting with nearly ten lakh students on November 11 to press their demands.
The association has been urging the government for the past two months to release the pending fee reimbursement dues, estimated at around ₹9,000 crore.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka had earlier assured that ₹1,200 crore would be released before Diwali, but only ₹300 crore has been disbursed so far.
The federation stated that repeated appeals for the remaining ₹900 crore received no positive response, leading to the decision to escalate the protest.
