Fish Seed Distribution Must Be Transparent: Minister Vakiti Srihari

Hyderabad, Nov 3: Animal Husbandry Minister Vakati Srihari directed officials to ensure transparency in the ongoing fish seed distribution program across Telangana.

He conducted a video conference from Hyderabad on Monday with district collectors and fisheries officials to review the implementation of the scheme.

83 Crore Fish Seeds to Be Released in Water Bodies

Minister Srihari said the government has sanctioned ₹122.22 crore to distribute 83 crore fish seeds and 10 crore prawn seeds in 26,357 water bodies across the state.

He instructed officials to complete the distribution by November 20 without further delay.

The minister stressed that officials must take strict measures to ensure that the seeds reach the designated tanks and reservoirs.

He also directed that details of fish seeds, suppliers, and transport vehicles must be accurately recorded in the T-Fish mobile application by fisheries officers. The next 18 days are crucial, and the process should be conducted with complete transparency, he emphasized.

The minister asked authorities to share information about the distribution schedule with local fishermen societies. He said the government aims to increase fish production and create marketing facilities, including fish stalls and markets, in every Assembly constituency.

Officials from the Fisheries, Irrigation, Agriculture, Panchayat Raj, and Rural Development departments were instructed to jointly monitor the program.

Minister Srihari further ordered that the entire process should be free from irregularities and conducted strictly according to protocol, inviting public representatives regardless of political affiliation.

During the video conference, district collector Sneha Shabarish stated that an action plan has been prepared and the fish seed distribution will begin this week after informing local representatives.
