Chikkadpally Police Nab Two in Hyderabad Robbery Case

Hyderabad, Nov. 8: The Chikkadpally Police on Saturday apprehended two persons involved in a robbery case reported on October 31, 2025, in Hyderabad.

The accused, identified as Gudipati Bramaiah (51) and Gudipati Anjali alias Anjani (48), both residents of Borabanda, were arrested with recovery of stolen gold jewellery and other material evidence.

Police Recover Gold Chain and Mobile Phone

According to the police, the accused snatched a gold chain from Smt. Surekha Auradkar (69) near her residence close to Devi Theatre, Chikkadpally.

The incident occurred when the victim was returning home from shopping. The offender attacked her near the apartment lift, forcibly removed her gold chain, and caused a minor neck injury before fleeing the scene.

Based on credible information, police teams apprehended Bramaiah near Sahara Bakery, Ashok Nagar.

During interrogation, he confessed that he resorted to the crime due to financial distress after suffering business losses and taking loans for his daughter’s marriage.

He admitted to watching online videos to learn chain-snatching techniques.

Police investigations revealed that Bramaiah handed over the stolen gold to his wife Anjali, who later mortgaged it at Manappuram Finance, Kukatpally Branch, for ₹1,13,000.

A broken gold chain weighing 4.6 grams, another chain weighing 14.35 grams, an OPPO mobile phone, and a paper-cutting blade were recovered from their possession.

Officials said the accused had earlier attempted chain snatching in Sultan Bazaar and other areas but failed due to public presence.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Smt. K. Shilpavalli, DCP Central Zone, with the assistance of  B. Anand Kumar, Addl. DCP, L. Ramesh Kumar, ACP Chikkadpally Division, B. Raju Naik, Inspector, M. Shankar, Detective Inspector, and Mohd. Kareem, SI, along with the Chikkadpally Crime Staff.

Police also appreciated the Hyderabad Metro authorities for their cooperation in tracing the accused.
