Hyderabad: A disturbing case has emerged from Karimnagar involving the attempted sale of a newborn baby for Rs. 6 lakh. The episode highlights how baby sale cases continue to rise, even as officials and rights groups warn about the growing exploitation of vulnerable mothers. According to the information provided, a young woman gave birth to a baby boy in a private hospital in Hyderabad. The woman had been in a relationship and became pregnant because of her lover. However, she was unable to raise the child after he allegedly cheated on her. Therefore, she made what the input describes as a “terrible decision” and decided to sell her newborn. Meanwhile, intermediaries became involved, and a deal was struck for Rs. 6 lakh.
The agreement reportedly involved a couple named Rayamallu and Latha from Chakinivanipalle in Ganneruvaram mandal of Karimnagar district. Middlemen helped arrange the sale. However, the plan came to light when members of the Child Protection Committee received information about the case. They immediately informed the police, which led to swift action. The Karimnagar Two Town Police then stepped in and prevented the sale.
Officials arrested 15 people who allegedly helped in the baby sale process. The police have registered a case and started an investigation. Moreover, the incident has once again raised concerns about illicit baby sale networks and the exploitation of women trapped in difficult circumstances.
