Former CJI Leaves Rashtrapati Bhavan Leaving Official Car

Delhi/hyderabad, Nov 24 (Maxim News): Former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Justice Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai left the official vehicle allotted to him for the new CJI Justice Suryakant at Rashtrapati Bhavan and left. After Suryakant took oath as the 53rd Chief Justice, Justice Gavai went to his residence in his own vehicle.

Justice BR Gavai, who retired on November 23, reached Rashtrapati Bhavan in the official Mercedes Benz car allotted to him for the oath-taking ceremony of the new CJI. After the ceremony was over, the car was left there. According to the rules, after retiring as CJI, former CJIs have to vacate their official residences and other facilities. In accordance with that, Justice Gavai seems to have left the car there for the new CJI.

President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to Justice Suryakant as the 53rd CJI of the Supreme Court on Monday. The event was attended by Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former CJI Gavai and others. Justice Suryakant will continue in this post for about 15 months. That is, he will retire on February 9, 2027. (Maxim News)
