Ganja Seizure In Tellapur As Police Nab Smuggling Gang

Hyderabad: Ganja Seizure in Tellapur created a major alert after the Madhapur SOT police caught a gang that was smuggling the substance from West Bengal to Hyderabad. Officials said the accused were caught red handed at a labour camp in Tellapur on the outskirts of the city. They added that 42 kg of ganja was seized during the operation.

According to officials, the seized ganja is valued at Rs 21 lakh. They said three persons from Bengal have been arrested. The arrested accused were identified as Mithun Bharma, Suden Roy and Sheikh. However, the main accused Biswa escaped from the location. Police said the accused brought ganja from West Bengal and stored it at the labour camp before moving it into the city. They also said the team acted on specific information and reached the spot.

Officials explained that they seized ganja and five mobile phones from the accused. They said the phones may help them track the supply chain. Meanwhile, police registered a case under the NDPS Act. They added that an investigation is underway. Therefore, more arrests are possible as the probe continues. Police said they are trying to trace the main accused Biswa and identify the broader network behind the smuggling.

The seizure marks a significant action by the Madhapur SOT team. Officials said they will continue such operations to curb the flow of narcotics into the city. They added that the accused used inter state routes to avoid checks. However, the team was able to track their movement. Later, the police shifted the seized material for further verification.

The case highlights the continuing challenge of drug smuggling in Hyderabad. Police said they will increase monitoring in areas around the outskirts. They also urged the public to share information about suspicious activity. The investigation will focus on finding the source points in West Bengal and the destination network in Hyderabad.
