Mumbai/Hyderabad, Dec 5 (Maxim News: Simone Tata, stepmother of late Ratan Tata and mother of Tata Trusts Chairman Noel Tata, has passed away. She was 95 years old. Simone, who had been suffering from health problems for the past few days, breathed her last today while undergoing treatment at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. The Tata Group officially announced this. It was revealed that her last rites will be performed in Colaba on Saturday morning.
Born in Geneva, Switzerland, Simone first visited India as a tourist in 1953 at the age of 23. During this trip, Simone met Naval Tata. Naval Tata was already married to Suni Tata. They separated in 1940. Naval Tata married Simone in 1955. Simone Tata founded the beauty product brand Lakme. Later, she played a key role in establishing the retail chain Trent Limited. Westside was also founded under Simone. (Maxim News)
