Pakistan has recently created the post of Chief of Defence Forces. The post was created last month through the 27th Amendment to the Constitution. The Pakistani government has taken this decision to centralize the military command. The Shehbaz government has been trying for years to give more powers to Asim Munir. In fact, Munir’s three-year term as army chief ended on November 29. The service of Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu has also been extended for another two years. Asif Ali Zardari has expressed his best wishes to both the officers of the Pakistani armed forces. (Maxim News)
