Telangana Agitation and the state’s democratic journey drew global attention during a high level interaction with the German Bundestag Committee on Internal Affairs. BRS MLC Dr. Sravan Dasoju said Telangana’s struggle, growth path, and federal spirit found strong resonance during the dialogue. The interaction was led by Josef Oster along with Members of Parliament from across Germany’s political spectrum. The discussion reflected growing international interest in Telangana’s political and democratic evolution.
Dr. Sravan Dasoju stated that the talks focused on the historic Telangana Agitation led by K. Chandrashekar Rao and the transformation of the state after achieving statehood. He explained how the movement shaped Telangana’s governance and development. He said global lawmakers showed keen interest in understanding this journey. Therefore, the interaction became an important platform to present Telangana’s story at the international level.
Telangana Agitation seen as democratic assertion
“The Telangana movement was not merely a regional struggle; it was a democratic assertion of dignity, self-respect, and federal justice. It is heartening to see global legislators keenly understand and appreciate this journey,” he said.
During the interaction, participants exchanged views on democracy, federal structures, internal governance, the judiciary, industry, and constitutional institutions. These discussions highlighted shared democratic values between India and Germany. Dr. Dasoju said the exchange showed how Telangana’s experience aligns with global democratic principles. Meanwhile, the dialogue also strengthened mutual understanding between the two democracies.
“Strong federalism, institutional integrity, and respect for democratic mandates are the pillars of stable governance — values that Telangana has consistently upheld,” Dr. Dasoju asserted.
Telangana Agitation connects to Hyderabad and global ties
Dr. Dasoju also noted that Hyderabad’s plural culture, economic dynamism, and global outlook formed a key part of the discussion. He said participants spoke about the city’s role in shaping modern Telangana. The dialogue also touched upon the growing strength of Indo German relations. Therefore, the interaction went beyond politics and covered culture and economic cooperation.
“Hyderabad represents India’s composite culture and future-ready economy. Such dialogues deepen people-to-people ties and strengthen democratic partnerships between nations,” he remarked.
Emphasising the need for continued engagement, Dr. Dasoju underlined the importance of parliamentary dialogue. He said such conversations are essential in today’s divided world. “In an increasingly polarised world, parliamentary dialogue rooted in democratic values is not a luxury — it is a necessity. Telangana stands ready to engage, learn, and contribute on the global democratic platform.”
