Hyderabad: Messi’s Delhi arrival was delayed on Tuesday after dense fog disrupted flight operations in the national capital. Argentine football legend Lionel Messi could not land in Delhi as scheduled because his charter flight was held up due to poor visibility caused by foggy weather conditions.

Messi, who is on the final leg of his G.O.A.T Tour in India, was in Mumbai for the second day of his three day visit. He was expected to reach Delhi early in the morning. However, adverse weather forced a delay, officials said. As a result, Messi remained at the Mumbai airport while awaiting clearance to depart.

Meanwhile, sources said Messi is expected to leave Mumbai shortly once conditions improve. His Delhi schedule includes an appearance at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium for a ticketed public event. Organisers have not announced any change to the programme so far. However, the delay has drawn attention due to heavy fog affecting flight schedules across north India.

Earlier, Messi captivated fans in Mumbai with a high profile appearance alongside cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. Several Bollywood celebrities and political leaders were also present at the event. Before arriving in Mumbai, Messi visited Hyderabad and Kolkata as part of his India tour. While his Hyderabad appearance passed off smoothly, the Kolkata leg witnessed chaos. At the Salt Lake Stadium, frustrated fans damaged seats and entered the pitch after failing to get a clear view of the football star. Heavy security and the presence of officials reportedly limited fan access, leading to unrest inside the stadium.

Meanwhile, the fog situation in Delhi continues to impact air travel. Several flights have faced delays and diversions due to reduced visibility. Weather officials have warned that foggy conditions may persist during early morning hours, which could further affect arrivals.
