Hyderabad Police Enforce Strict New Year Security Rules
Hyderabad, Dec. 31 (Maxim News): Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar announced strict enforcement measures for New Year celebrations to prevent untoward incidents across the city.
The Commissioner said New Year events will be permitted only until 1 am. He warned that violations of time limits or sound system norms will invite strict action. He added that the police have put comprehensive security arrangements in place citywide.
Sajjanar issued these directions during a video conference with field level officers from the TGICCC in Banjara Hills. He instructed officials to strictly monitor event timings, liquor sales, and traffic discipline. Therefore, enforcement teams have been placed on high alert.
He clarified that drunk driving checks will begin early. Accordingly, special teams will conduct drunk and drive inspections from 7 pm at 120 locations. He said the special drive will continue through the first week of January.
Strict New Year enforcement drive across Hyderabad
The Commissioner warned that those caught driving under the influence will face heavy fines, vehicle seizure, licence cancellation, and possible jail terms. Moreover, action will be taken against rash driving and triple riding.
He also stated that liquor sales through back doors after closing hours are completely banned. Any violation will result in severe legal action against shop owners and bar managements.
Sajjanar cautioned cab and auto drivers against refusing rides or demanding extra fares due to rush. He said such violations will attract cases under the Motor Vehicles Act Section 178(3)(b). Passengers facing problems can complain through WhatsApp at 94906 16555.
He urged citizens to celebrate responsibly and avoid driving after drinking. He advised using cabs or designated drivers for safety. Additionally, he appealed to police officers to celebrate the New Year with inmates of orphanages, old age homes, and hospitals.
