According to the input, the incident occurred on Wednesday morning in the southeastern Sistan Baluchestan region of Iran. The deceased officer was identified as Mahmoud Hagighat. He was driving a car when assailants in another vehicle chased him. Meanwhile, a man opened fire on the moving car using a machine gun. The officer tried to speed away. However, bullets struck him, and he died during the attack. Later, the car lost control and overturned as the assailants fled.

The attackers also recorded the entire incident on video. This recording has since gone viral. The killing comes at a time when Iran is facing continued protests and unrest. Reports indicate that civil unrest has been affecting many parts of Iran for some time. A few days ago, another police officer was killed in a separate incident. The killing of Mahmoud Hagighat marks the second such case in recent days. Meanwhile, Iranian police responded to the latest murder by stating that the accused would be arrested and punished soon. Authorities have not shared further details about the suspects.

The overall situation in Iran remains worrying. The historic Old Grand Bazaar in Tehran has been closed for several days. This closure reflects the depth of the ongoing protests. At the same time, the country is facing a severe economic crisis. The value of Iran’s currency has fallen sharply. Many blame sanctions imposed by Western countries for this decline. Others also point to government failure and negligence as contributing factors.

Later developments are expected as authorities pursue the attackers. However, the broader unrest linked to economic hardship and political tensions shows no immediate sign of easing.
