Telangana government schools to give free shoes, belts
Telangana government schools | Hyderabad, Jan 9: Telangana government schools will provide free shoes and belts to all students from the next academic year.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced the decision, marking another major welfare step for students studying in government schools across the state.
The Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said the government will distribute shoes and belts free of cost to every student.
Reddy noted that students already receive two sets of free school uniforms. However, the Education Department suggested that providing shoes and belts would further help students.
Therefore, the Chief Minister accepted the proposal. With this decision, nearly 20 lakh students studying in government schools are expected to benefit.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also issued key instructions regarding the Young India Integrated Residential Schools.
These schools are being built as a prestigious project of the government. Revanth Reddy asked officials to give priority to girls in the first phase of admissions.
Revanth Reddy stressed that the initiative should focus on supporting girls and improving access to quality education.
Therefore, officials were told to ensure that girls receive preference during the initial intake.
Telangana government schools | Free facilities expanded
In addition, the Chief Minister gave another important directive related to student welfare. He ordered that students from Class 1 to Class 10 in government schools should receive morning breakfast.
This facility will be provided regularly as part of the government’s education support measures. The move aims to support students’ health and learning outcomes.
The decision reflects the government’s continued focus on strengthening public education. The free supply of uniforms has already been in place.
Now, the addition of shoes and belts is expected to reduce the financial burden on families. Also, the introduction of morning breakfast is likely to help students attend classes with better focus.
Officials noted that these steps will improve attendance and encourage parents to send their children to government schools.
The Chief Minister’s instructions cover both infrastructure and student welfare. Therefore, the Education Department will play a key role in implementing these decisions smoothly.
Later, officials are expected to work on logistics and distribution plans. The government aims to ensure timely delivery before the next academic year begins.
With these measures, Telangana government schools are set to offer expanded support to students, especially those from economically weaker sections. The announcements underline the state’s emphasis on inclusive and accessible education.
