TGHRC Recommends Rs. 8 Lakh Compensation And Employment To Husband In Tubectomy Death Case
Hyderabad, Jan 9 (Maxim News) , the Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC), headed by Dr.Justice Shameem Akther, held the Government of Telangana vicariously liable for medical negligence leading to the death of M. Lalitha after a tubectomy surgery conducted at a Government Community Health Centre in Wanaparthy District.
The Commission found that ileal perforation during surgery and delay in detection caused septic peritonitis and cardio-pulmonary arrest, rejecting the claim of mere physiological complications. Observing that the earlier payment of Rs.2,00,000 was wholly inadequate, especially in view of the disabled husband and two minor children of the deceased, the Commission recommended payment of an additional ₹8,00,000 as compensation and further advised providing suitable employment to the husband to enable the family to live with dignity.
