Hyderabad Puranapul Clash: Situation Peaceful, FIR Registered: Police
Hyderabad, Jan 15: Tension prevailed in the Puranapul area of Hyderabad’s Old City after a clash between two groups escalated into violence late Tuesday night.
The incident occurred around 11.30 pm and led to police intervention, including a lathi charge, to bring the situation under control.
Police said a minor dispute between two groups initially triggered the incident.
However, the argument quickly turned violent, with both sides allegedly attacking each other. As the situation worsened, police rushed to the spot and attempted to disperse the crowd.
When the groups refused to withdraw, police resorted to a lathi charge. During the clash and stone pelting, several police personnel sustained injuries.
Senior officers immediately took stock of the situation. As a precaution, police imposed tight security in and around Puranapul.
Authorities blocked the main road connecting Bahadurpura and Puranapul and diverted traffic through alternate routes. Police also restricted the entry of outsiders into the area to prevent further escalation.
