Bhatti Vikramarka Vows To Protect State And People
Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday said he entered politics to protect Telangana and its people from exploiters and criminals, not to gain power or build business empires. He made these remarks while speaking to the media at Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad.
Bhatti Vikramarka said his political journey has a clear purpose. He stated that he wants to safeguard the state’s assets and resources. He also said these resources must reach the people without interference. Therefore, he rejected claims that he used his position for personal benefit.
He strongly criticised the Managing Director of a leading Telugu daily. He alleged that the newspaper published a fabricated report against him. The report, he said, linked him to Singareni coal company tenders without facts. According to him, the story was written to serve vested interests.
Bhatti Vikramarka on Singareni tenders and media allegations
Bhatti Vikramarka clarified that the Singareni Board finalises tender conditions. He said ministers have no role in that process. However, when allegations surfaced, he immediately suggested cancelling the tenders. He added that he conveyed this decision to Singareni Board members.
Later, he said the Board informed him that tenders were called but no bidder had come forward. Even then, he instructed officials to cancel the tenders and call them afresh. Therefore, he rejected any suggestion of wrongdoing in the matter.
He also referred to his association with former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. He said the newspaper’s Managing Director appeared to have written the report out of anger towards Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. He warned that he would not stay silent if anyone tries to malign officials, ministers, or the government.
Bhatti Vikramarka said he lives with self respect. He added that he entered politics only to protect the state from exploiters. He also asserted that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and all ministers are working for the people. Meanwhile, he said the government would not be intimidated by motivated stories.
He further said he has spent nearly 40 years fighting for people’s causes. He worked both inside and outside the legislature. He stated that it would soon become clear what he hoped to gain and whose favour he sought through his “first word” column.
He concluded by saying he spoke only to ensure people know the truth. He added that he would soon present full details and explain all aspects clearly.
