Harish Rao Questioned In Telangana Phone Tapping Case, New Claims Surface
Hyderabad, Jan. 21 (Maxim News): The Telangana Phone Tapping Case has taken another turn with the questioning of former minister and BRS MLA Harish Rao by the Special Investigation Team.
Investigators issued him a notice under Section 160 CrPC, following allegations linked to phone surveillance during past elections.
Harish Rao appeared before the SIT and faced questioning for nearly seven hours. The probe relates to claims that phones of political rivals were tapped during the Dubbak and Munugode bypolls. The allegations pertain to the period when the BRS was in power.
During the interrogation, SIT officials reportedly informed Harish Rao that his own phone may have been under surveillance. This claim has triggered wide discussion, although it remains unconfirmed officially.
Investigators questioned him about alleged monitoring of phones belonging to BRS leaders after the 2018 Assembly elections.
The SIT also sought clarity on his alleged links with accused officials, including former SIB chief Prabhakar Rao and others. Officials reportedly questioned him about phone numbers allegedly provided for tapping until November 29, 2023.
Sources indicate that Harish Rao denied knowledge of these actions and said he could not recall several details.
Political circles are debating whether Harish Rao is an accused or a possible victim in the Telangana Phone Tapping Case.
After the questioning, Harish Rao said he raised several questions before the SIT.
However, he did not publicly address claims about his phone being tapped. Authorities have not released further details so far. (Maxim News)
