Home Based FIR Registration Rolled Out By Cyberabad Police
- Home Based FIR initiative aims to help victims
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Police have rolled out Home Based FIR registration in special cases as part of a victim friendly initiative. The move focuses on easing stress for complainants and improving access to police services. Officials began implementing the system with immediate effect, therefore marking a change in how select cases are handled.
The first case under the Home Based FIR initiative was registered within the Dundigal police station limits. A burglary complaint was recorded at the complainant’s residence on Wednesday. Police teams reached the spot and completed the process at the victim’s home, meanwhile ensuring prompt action.
According to police, the theft occurred at a villa in Gagillapur. The house owner had gone to Vijayawada with his family for the Sankranti festival. After returning home on the night of January 20, he found the door broken open. Gold and silver ornaments worth several lakhs were stolen. Then the victim alerted the police by dialling 100.
The Dundigal police team responded quickly and visited the residence. Officers recorded the complaint on site and registered a case under sections of the BNS. A copy of the FIR was handed over to the complainant at the spot. Therefore, the victim did not have to visit the police station despite the loss.
Officials said the victim expressed satisfaction with the prompt response and the doorstep service. He appreciated the manner in which the police handled the situation. Also, the quick registration helped reduce further stress after the burglary.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner M Ramesh appreciated the Dundigal police team for following the new Standard Operating Procedure. He said the Home Based FIR initiative aims to reduce trauma and inconvenience to victims. The focus remains on women and children in particular. FIR registration can now take place at homes, crime scenes, or hospitals, without requiring victims to visit police stations. Later, officials said the system will continue in special cases as part of citizen friendly policing.
