Parliament Budget Session | Hyderabad, Jan. 28 (Maxim News): The Parliament Budget Session 2026 27 began on Wednesday with President Droupadi Murmu addressing both Houses, marking the formal start of annual budget proceedings.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers, and opposition leaders attended the opening day.
In her address, the President highlighted the performance of the NDA government during its third term.
President Murmu said India was moving rapidly towards the goal of Viksit Bharat through sustained reforms and development.
The President stated that transparent and accountable governance remained the government’s priority. She said major welfare schemes had reached remote villages across the country. Drinking water was supplied to rural households through the Jal Jeevan Mission, she added.
President Droupadi Murmu noted that four crore permanent houses were built over the last decade. She also said over ten crore LPG connections were provided nationwide. According to the address, more than 1.8 lakh Ayushman Bharat centres are delivering healthcare services.
Parliament Budget Session 2026 27 highlights development agenda
During the Parliament Budget Session 2026 27 address, President Murmu said 25 crore people were lifted out of poverty in the last ten years.
President Droupadi Murmu said the government aimed to provide life insurance coverage to every citizen. India now leads global food grain production with output crossing 150 million tonnes.
President Murmu also highlighted India’s top position in milk production and strong growth in aquaculture. Exports increased due to key manufacturing reforms, she said. India has also emerged as a global hub for mobile phone manufacturing.
The President said income tax reforms benefited the middle class. She cited tax exemption for income up to Rs 12 lakh as a major step. She also referred to PM Surya Ghar Yojana, which enables households to generate electricity.
President Murmu said railway connectivity improved in northeastern states.
Direct rail links now connect New Delhi and Aizawl. Over 150 Vande Bharat trains are operational nationwide. The President also said India would soon establish its own space station. (Maxim News)
