Hyderabad Hussain Sagar: Software Engineer Found Dead

Hyderabad Hussain Sagar | Hyderabad, Feb. 3: A 26 year old software engineer died by suicide after jumping into Hussain Sagar, citing concern over her ailing mother’s future, police said here. The incident has triggered widespread grief across the city.

The deceased, Vijaya Lakshmi, hailed from Bhainsa in Adilabad district and lived with her mother in Motinagar, Kukatpally.

Lakshmi worked as a software engineer at a private company with a monthly salary of around one lakh rupees.

After her father’s death, she became the sole caretaker of her mother, who has health issues.

According to police and family members, relatives had begun looking for marriage alliances. However, proposals failed as Vijaya Lakshmi insisted her mother must live with her after marriage.

Gradually, she became emotionally distressed, fearing her mother would be left alone if she married.

Investigators said she had recently searched online about suicide methods. On January 31, she booked a bike ride to Tank Bund. She got down near the Annamayya statue and jumped into the lake when no one was watching.

Her family reported her missing the same day.

Hyderabad police recovered a body from Hussain Sagar. Relatives later identified it as Vijaya Lakshmi. Police have registered a case and are continuing the investigation.
