The Chief Electoral Officer, C. Sudharsan Reddy, stressed that booth-level coordination would be key to the success of SIR in Telangana. Therefore, he urged political parties to appoint at least one Booth Level Agent for every polling station. He said each polling booth must have at least one BLA to help ensure accuracy, transparency, and timely resolution of issues during the revision process.

The CEO also said BLAs should preferably belong to the local area of the polling station. This, he explained, would help them work closely with Booth Level Officers. He added that such coordination would make the revision process smoother and more reliable. Meanwhile, he reminded parties that strong booth-level participation would reduce grievances and help ensure that no eligible voter is left out.

Providing further details, the CEO said the SIR is currently underway in 12 states. He added that the schedule for the remaining states, including Telangana, is expected during April-May 2026. However, given the limited time available once the notification is issued, preparatory work has already started in Telangana.

As part of this exercise, officials have completed table-top mapping. This work links electors listed in the 2025 electoral rolls with those covered during the 2002 SIR. Later, this process moved to field-level mapping. Booth Level Officers are now carrying out house-to-house visits, especially in urban areas, to identify and verify residences.

During SIR in Telangana, BLOs are expected to make three to four visits to each polling area. Enumeration forms will be distributed during the first visit. Subsequent visits will cover households that were unavailable earlier. However, the CEO clarified that electors not mapped during the preparatory phase can still provide their details during the SIR.

Reiterating his appeal, the CEO urged political parties to complete BLA appointments at the earliest. He said this would strengthen coordination and improve the overall quality of electoral rolls. The meeting was attended by Additional CEO Vasam Venkateshwar Reddy, Deputy CRO Hari Singh, and other officials.
