Telangana municipal election holidays | Hyderabad, Feb. 9: Telangana students received a major alert this week as multiple holidays are likely due to municipal elections.

Notably, several districts may see four consecutive holidays, although the break will not apply uniformly across the state.

The Telangana government has ordered holidays in polling areas on February 11, which falls on Wednesday.

Municipal election polling will take place that day. As a result, schools and offices located in polling jurisdictions will remain closed.

In addition, the counting of votes is scheduled for February 13. That day falls on Friday. Therefore, authorities will declare holidays for schools and offices involved in the counting process.

Officials have already issued instructions to local administrations.

Meanwhile, February 14 marks the second Saturday. February 15 follows as Sunday. Consequently, these dates complete a four day holiday stretch in select districts. However, officials clarified that the holidays depend on local election activity.

At the same time, election related restrictions will come into force. The municipal election campaign ends today across Telangana. Campaigning remains allowed until 5 pm. After that, authorities will enforce the silence period.

Accordingly, liquor shops will close during the restriction window. Excise officials confirmed that all liquor shops in municipal areas will shut from 5 pm today until February 11. This closure aligns with polling regulations.

Furthermore, officials will again close liquor shops and bars on February 13. The restriction applies due to vote counting. The Excise Department has already issued formal orders.

Overall, the Telangana municipal election holidays will affect education institutions, offices, and commercial activity. Students and staff in notified areas should follow local announcements for confirmation.
