Polling | Hyderabad, Feb. 11: Polling began on Wednesday in 12 municipalities of the undivided Warangal district as part of the Telangana municipal elections, with officials putting in place elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth voting.
Authorities dispatched polling staff from distribution centres to respective polling stations on Tuesday evening.
Officials transported ballot boxes, ballot papers, and essential materials under security cover. Moreover, they set up webcasting across all municipalities to monitor the elections in real time.
Polling is being held in Bhupalpally, Parkal, Narsampet, Mulugu, Mahabubabad, Maripeda, Dornakal, Kesamudram, Wardhannapet, Thorrur, Station Ghanpur, and Jangaon municipalities. Voters can cast their ballots from 7 am to 5 pm.

Officials appointed presiding officers, assistant presiding officers, and other polling personnel for all stations.
In addition, they deployed micro observers and nodal officers to prevent disruptions. Only voters and authorised polling agents are being allowed inside polling stations.
To improve turnout in the municipal elections, officials permitted voting with 18 approved identity documents.
These include voter ID, Aadhaar, job card, bank passbook with photo, driving licence, PAN card, passport, pattadar passbook, ration card, and other government issued IDs. Furthermore, each municipality has one designated green polling station.
Police imposed Section 163 of BNS at polling centres to prevent unlawful assembly. They directed the public not to gather near stations. Meanwhile, authorities deployed heavy security across all locations. An officer of ACP rank is supervising security arrangements in each municipality.
Officials urged voters to participate freely and assured that all measures were in place to conduct peaceful Telangana municipal elections.
