New Guidelines On Vande Mataram: First Six Stanzas Must Be Sung
Delhi/Hyderabad, Feb 11 (Maxim News): The Union Home Ministry has issued new guidelines on the Vande Mataram song. It has ordered that the first six stanzas of the Vande mataram song must be sung. From now on, all government programs, government award functions, every program attended by the President, and all schools will also have to play the last four stanzas removed from the original Vande Mataram song. The official version of the vande mataram song has been mentioned in the recently released G.O. The orders have mentioned the protocols to be followed while singing Vande Mataram.
According to the order released by the Union home Ministry, the Vande mataram song should be sung for 3 minutes and 10 seconds. The order states that everyone should stand up while Vande mataram is being sung. Vande mataram will have to be sung during the presentation of awards by all central and state governments and at all functions attended by the President.
However, it is not necessary to show it in cinema halls. Legal action will be taken against those who cause disruption while the Vande mataram song is being sung. Under the new rules, those responsible will be sentenced to a maximum of three years in prison.
Recently, during the 150th anniversary of Vande mataram, this song was the subject of discussion. Speaking in parliament, Prime Minister Modi said that the then Nehru government had removed some verses from the original song written by lyricist Bankinchandra Chatterjee. The last four verses were removed on the grounds that it would harm secularism. The discussion sparked a political storm when Prime Minister Modi alleged that the Congress party had removed some lines from this song in 1937, which sowed the seeds of the partition of the country.
