NSSTA Foundation Day Celebrations To Be Held Tomorrow
- NSSTA to mark 18th Foundation Day at Greater Noida
- MoSPI event to focus on capacity building and Viksit Bharat@2047
The National Statistical Systems Training Academy Foundation Day will be celebrated on 13 February 2026 at Greater Noida. NSSTA, established on 13 February 2009 under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, will mark its 18th Foundation Day with a formal ceremony.
NSSTA is a Central Training Institute under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. It was set up to foster human resource development in Official Statistics and related disciplines. Over the years, NSSTA has played a key role in strengthening statistical capacity. It provides high quality training to officers of the Central and State and UT Governments. Meanwhile, it has also repositioned itself internationally by conducting training for international participants.
The National Statistical Systems Training Academy Foundation Day marks eighteen years of contribution to strengthening India’s statistical systems. It also highlights the promotion of evidence based governance through sustained capacity building. This year, NSSTA will celebrate under the theme “Reimagining Capacity Building for Official Statistics to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.” The theme underlines the role of strong and reliable statistical systems in India’s developmental journey.
As India moves toward becoming a developed nation by 2047, the focus has expanded beyond data collection. It now includes building institutional capacities and adopting technologies like AI and ML, big data analytics, and harmonization of data to make it AI ready. NSSTA continues to lead these efforts. It equips statistical professionals with modern methodologies and promotes continuous learning and innovation.
The Foundation Day ceremony will be attended by Rao Inderjit Singh, Hon’ble MOS I C, M o S and PI, MOS I C, M o Planning and MOS, M o Culture. Other dignitaries include Ms. S. Radha Chauhan, IAS, Chairperson, Capacity Building Commission; Dr. Saurabh Garg, IAS, Secretary, MoSPI; and Mr. Stefan Priesner, UN Resident Coordinator in India. Director Generals and other senior officers will also be present. A high level plenary session will provide insights and directions for strengthening capacity building and collaboration.
Later, a panel discussion on “Communicating statistics to the policymakers and public” will be held. The event is expected to bring together over 350 participants, including senior officers, policymakers, academicians, statistical practitioners, and representatives from national and international organizations. Beyond celebration, the occasion will reflect on NSSTA’s journey and chart the way forward.
