Cancer Screening Camp for Sanitation Workers Organised by GHMC

Hyderabad, Feb. 13 (Maxim News) : GHMC cancer screening camp for sanitation workers began at the GHMC Head Office on February 13, 2026, with a special focus on protecting employees from cancer through early detection and awareness.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation organised the mobile free cancer awareness and screening camp in partnership with Karkinos Healthcare.

Cancer cases continue to rise silently, and many people neglect regular health checkups due to limited access.

Therefore, GHMC launched this initiative to safeguard its employees and sanitation workers through preventive screening and awareness.

Under the programme, doctors are conducting oral, breast, and cervical cancer screening tests for women. Meanwhile, men are undergoing oral cancer screening. The initiative aims to remove fear around cancer and promote early diagnosis.

The camp focuses on identifying high risk individuals at the primary stage. Early detection helps doctors provide timely treatment and improve outcomes.

The Indian Cancer Society is funding the programme. So far, authorities have covered 20 circles under this initiative.

GHMC Commissioner R V Karnan inspected the camp at the Head Office. He is regularly monitoring the mobile free cancer awareness and screening camps. Moreover, he has directed officials to ensure effective and systematic primary testing.

Shailaja, Junior Assistant in the Health Section, said the GHMC cancer screening camp for sanitation workers is highly beneficial.

She noted that early detection makes treatment easier and more effective.

G Prameela, a sanitation worker from Malkapet, said GHMC’s initiative shows commitment toward employee health. She added that workers are encouraging colleagues to undergo screening tests.

Lakshmamma, another sanitation worker from Malkapet, thanked GHMC for the initiative. She said staff explained cancer risks clearly and removed fears through awareness sessions.

She also noted that early identification allows effective treatment.

Through the GHMC cancer screening camp for sanitation workers, the civic body aims to strengthen preventive healthcare for frontline staff and ensure better long term health protection. (Maxim News)
