Indian Citizens In Iran Told To Leave Now

Hyderabad: The Indian government has issued an emergency alert to Indian citizens in Iran amid the American Iran crisis. War clouds are gathering in West Asia. Therefore, in view of the changing situation and increasing security threats in Iran, all Indians have been advised to leave the country immediately.

The Indian Embassy issued a clear statement. It said, “Indian students, tourists, pilgrims and businessmen currently in Iran should leave the country immediately by any available means of travel, including commercial flights,”. Officials said this step continues the advisory issued earlier in January.

The Centre is closely reviewing the security of Indians in Iran. It is estimated that thousands of Indians are currently in the country. The embassy has asked those who have not registered their details to do so immediately on the online portal. However, in case of internet problems, family members in India can complete the process. Officials have also requested Indians to keep a close watch on local news outlets. They must remain in constant touch with the Indian Embassy for the latest updates.

The alert comes amid rising tension in West Asia. The impasse in negotiations on the nuclear deal between the US and Iran has raised concern. Meanwhile, the massive deployment of US military forces in the region has added to fears. US President Trump has warned that tough measures will be necessary if talks fail.
