Israel’s ‘Iron Dome’ Now Belongs To India: Historic Decision During Modi’s Visit
Delhi/Hyderabad, Feb 26 (Maxim News): The India-Israel defence ties are set to reach another key milestone, Israel has given the green light to share with India its most powerful missile defence technology, the Iron Dome, which has changed the face of warfare worldwide. The decision comes in the wake of Prime minister Modi’s visit to israel, with the aim of taking defence cooperation between the two countries to a new level.
Israeli Consul General in Mumbai, Yaniv Ravach, confirmed this. He made it clear that Israel is ready to manufacture military hardware in India as part of ‘make in india’, not just sharing technology. This defense agreement between the two countries will be strategically crucial at a time when they are facing mutual challenges.
What is iron Dome? What makes it special? Iron Dome is a missile defense system that intercepts and neutralizes rockets, drones, and mortars launched by enemies into Israeli territory. It effectively intercepts short-range targets within a range of 4 kilometers to 70 kilometers. Its radar system detects enemy rockets and calculates whether they will fall on residential areas. It only launches interceptor missiles and dangerous rockets. Its success rate is 90 percent.
How will it benefit India’s defense system? India already has robust air defense systems like Akash and MR-SAM. But with the addition of Iron Dome technology, India will become more powerful in dealing with short-range rocket attacks from enemies on the borders. Especially mobile variants like Iron-Dome’ will be crucial in protecting our military bases and key assets.
Israel is looking to build a strong axis with India, not just bilateral ties. It plans to include the Abraham Accords countries, some African countries, Greece and Cyprus, to form a strong international system against terrorist groups. This defense agreement will make India a partner that produces cutting-edge technology rather than just a buyer. (Maxim News)
