Cyberabad Police K9 Squad Strengthened With Two CID-Trained Dogs

Hyderabad, Feb 26 (Maxim News): The K9 squad of the Cyberabad Police has been reinforced with the addition of two trained police dogs from the State Crime Investigation Department (CID). The induction raises the total number of working police canines in the commissionerate to 18.

According to CSW Headquarters Additional DCP Hanumantha Rao, the newly inducted dogs are ‘Rana’, a four-year-old Belgian Malinois, and ‘Rado’, a 10-year-old Labrador. With their arrival, the K9 unit now comprises 12 explosive detection dogs, two narcotics detection dogs and four tracker dogs deployed for various operational duties.

Officials said the explosive detection dogs are primarily used during VIP visits, public meetings, anti-sabotage checks and in response to threat calls. Tracker dogs assist investigators in tracing suspects, locating missing persons and recovering crucial evidence from crime scenes.

Narcotics detection dogs are trained to identify banned substances such as ganja, cocaine, methamphetamine, opium, MDMA and heroin.

The Cyberabad Police K9 squad has earned recognition at State and national-level competitions.
