Hyderabad March 2: Women Hockey World Cup Qualifiers will be held in Hyderabad from March 8 to 14, as the city prepares to host another prestigious international sporting event. The tournament is being organised under the aegis of the Federation Internationale de Hockey. The Telangana government has completed all arrangements to conduct the event on a grand scale.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the Sports Department has drawn up a comprehensive plan to organise the Women Hockey World Cup Qualifiers 2026 with high standards. The mega event will take place at the Gachibowli Hockey Stadium. Officials said they have ensured international level facilities without any lapses.

The Women Hockey World Cup Qualifiers will play a key role in determining qualification for the 2026 Women Hockey World Cup. Eight teams will compete in the tournament. The participating nations include India, Austria, England, Italy, Korea, Scotland, Uruguay and Wales. Meanwhile, teams from India, England, Scotland and Uruguay have already arrived in Hyderabad.

The Sports Authority of Telangana is overseeing the arrangements. It is coordinating with Hockey India, representatives of the Federation Internationale de Hockey and various state government departments. Therefore, officials are taking steps to ensure smooth conduct of the tournament.

In addition, special heritage tours and entertainment programmes have been arranged for players and international delegates visiting the city. These activities aim to showcase Telangana’s culture and heritage.
