Rajya Sabha Election Telangana: Congress Set To Win Two
Hyderabad, Mar 9 (Maxim News) : The Rajya Sabha election in Telangana has moved closer to a clear outcome. Two Congress candidates are set to win the seats unopposed after the nomination process reaches its final stage.
The Election Commission earlier issued a notification for Rajya Sabha elections. The filing of nominations and scrutiny process have already ended. Meanwhile, the deadline for withdrawal of nominations ends today.
In this situation, two Congress candidates from Telangana are likely to get elected to the Rajya Sabha unanimously. Senior leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi and V Narender Reddy filed nominations for the seats.
Abhishek Manu Singhvi submitted three sets of nomination papers. V Narender Reddy filed four sets of nominations. Meanwhile, an independent candidate named Sai also filed a nomination with one set of papers.
However, Sai’s nomination did not pass scrutiny. Officials rejected the nomination because it lacked the required support of MLAs as per the rules.
Meanwhile, the BRS and BJP parties did not file nominations for the election. Both parties lack enough numbers to contest the seats. Therefore, they stayed away from the nomination process.
As a result, the election of Abhishek Manu Singhvi and V Narender Reddy has become almost certain. The withdrawal deadline for nominations continues until 3 pm today.
Later, the State Chief Election Commissioner will make an official announcement in the Assembly at 4 pm. The announcement will confirm the final result of the Rajya Sabha election from Telangana.
Abhishek Manu Singhvi belongs to Rajasthan but currently serves as a sitting Rajya Sabha member from Telangana. Now, he is set to continue his term again from the state. (Maxim News)
