Hyderabad, Mar 9 (Maxim News) : Police uncovered an adulterated oil racket in Gachibowli on Monday and seized fake cooking oil and wheat flour.
The operation took place in Indiramma Colony at Vattinagulapally after a surprise inspection by the Special Operations Team.
Officials found that a group collected expired cooking oil and repacked it for sale. They also discovered expired wheat flour that the group sold with fake manufacturing and expiry dates.
The raid exposed serious food safety violations. Authorities said some traders continue to risk public health for profit. Recent surprise checks in the Telugu states have already revealed several such cases of food adulteration.
During the raid, SOT police teams inspected the premises in Indiramma Colony. They recovered adulterated cooking oil and wheat flour from the location. Officials seized the stock immediately to prevent its sale in the market.
Investigators confirmed that the group collected oil that had crossed its expiry date. Later, they repacked the oil and prepared it for sale again. In addition, they altered the expiry dates on wheat flour packets and sold them as fresh products.
Police also identified the people involved in the illegal activity. The accused belong to a group from Rajasthan. Officers took the suspects into custody during the operation.
Authorities registered a case and began an investigation into the racket. Officials are now trying to trace where the adulterated products were supplied and how long the operation had been running.
Food adulteration has become a serious concern in many areas. Officials say such activities endanger public health because consumers cannot easily identify fake or unsafe products.
Therefore, enforcement teams have increased inspections across markets and storage units. Police said further details about the Hyderabad adulterated oil racket will emerge as the investigation continues. (Maxim News)
