Revanth Reddy Reviews Sports Facilities, Pushes Upgrade
Hyderabad, Mar 9 (Maxim News) : Chief Minister Revanth Reddy reviewed the State Sports Department on Monday and stressed the need to build international standard sports facilities in Telangana.
CM held detailed discussions with ministers and senior officials on plans to strengthen sports infrastructure across the state.
The meeting was attended by Ministers Vakiti Srihari and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Sports Authority of Telangana Chairman Shivasena Reddy and Chief Secretary K Ramkrishna Rao also joined the review.
Principal Secretaries to the Chief Minister K S Srinivasa Raju and V Seshadri attended the meeting along with SAT Managing Director Soni Baladevi, Young India Sports University Vice Chancellor Dr G Kishore and other senior officials.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister focused on the development of modern sports infrastructure.
He discussed plans to provide international standard facilities at the Young India Sports University. He said the state must build a sports university with advanced training facilities for athletes.
Revanth Reddy said the goal should be to train athletes who can compete at the Olympic level. He added that Telangana should create a sports ecosystem that supports athletes from training to global competitions.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to revamp the Gachibowli Outdoor Stadium. He asked them to ensure the construction of an indoor stadium, university complex, hostels and sports grounds for multiple disciplines within the stadium campus.
Officials presented several design proposals for the planned infrastructure. The Chief Minister reviewed the designs and offered suggestions to improve the facilities.
He also said the government should prepare plans that enable Telangana to host major global sporting events. According to him, the state must aim to host events like the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games in the future.
In addition, Revanth Reddy directed officials to modernise several existing stadiums. He asked them to upgrade Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Stadium, LB Stadium and Saroor Nagar Stadium to meet future training and competition needs.
