Daruvu’s Role In Telangana Movement Praiseworthy: TUWJ President Virahat Ali
Hyderabad, Mar 9 (Maxim News): The contribution of the Daruvu Cultural Forum to the Telangana movement is highly commendable, said K. Virahat Ali, State President of the Telangana State Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ). He said the organisation played an important role in bringing the sacrifices of students who laid down their lives during the Telangana movement to the attention of the world and in awakening the conscience of the ruling authorities.
Virahat Ali made these remarks while attending the poster launch of the “Daruvu Jatara,” scheduled to be held in April, marking 25 years of the Daruvu Cultural Organisation. The poster launch event was held on Monday at the press club in Basheerbagh, Hyderabad.
He praised the organisation for spreading awareness in Telangana society through powerful literature and thought-provoking songs. According to him, Daruvu significantly contributed to mobilising public opinion during the movement.
Speaking on the occasion, Daruvu Cultural Organisation founder president Daruvu Ellanna said that a grand cultural event titled “Daruvu Jatara” will be organised on April 20 at Ravindra Bharathi to mark the organisation completing 25 years.
Organisation president Daruvu Anjanna said that several artists, activists and prominent personalities are expected to attend the event.
Virahat Ali noted that the organisation, which began about 25 years ago at the Government Degree College in Siddipet, later expanded its influence to Osmania University and other universities across Telangana, inspiring thousands of students and earning the support of lakhs of people during the Telangana movement.
