Vandemataram Row In Telangana Budget Session, AIMIM walked out
Hyderabad, Mar 16 (Maxim News): The Telangana Assembly witnessed political tension on the first day of the budget session. AIMIM members staged a walkout in protest against the playing of the Vandemataram song in the House.
The incident took place before the formal start of the Assembly proceedings. Officials played the Vandemataram song as part of the opening schedule. However, the move triggered a protest from AIMIM legislators.
AIMIM leaders objected to the playing of the song. They expressed protest inside the Assembly. Soon after, AIMIM MLAs walked out of the House, Majlis party MLAs stayed out of the House during the song. They returned only after the song concluded.
The walkout drew attention from other members. Meanwhile, the protest created a brief disruption in the proceedings. However, the session continued after the issue passed.
This is not the first such protest by AIMIM members. Earlier too, the party had followed a similar stand during Vandemataram renditions. The latest walkout followed the same pattern.
The incident sparked discussion among political parties. Members from different sides reacted to the development. The protest added political heat on the opening day of the session.
The budget session began on the same day with the Governor’s address.

Meanwhile, the Assembly is expected to take up several key issues during the coming days. These include discussions on welfare and development programmes.
Despite the brief protest, the Assembly continued its scheduled business. Leaders are expected to raise various public issues during the session.
The proceedings may also witness further debates between ruling and opposition members. (Maxim News)
