Hyderabad: Nitish Kumar and Nitin Nabin were elected to the Rajya Sabha from Bihar. The Nitish Kumar Rajya Sabha election outcome was part of a larger process held for multiple seats across states.
Elections took place on Monday for 11 Rajya Sabha seats across Bihar, Odisha, and Haryana. These elections were conducted out of a total of 37 vacancies. Meanwhile, candidates for the remaining seats had already been elected unanimously earlier.
Nitish Kumar Rajya Sabha Election and NDA Performance
In Bihar, the NDA alliance secured all five seats contested on Monday. Along with Nitish Kumar and Nitin Nabin, Union Minister Ramnath Thakur, Upendra Kushwaha, and Shivesh Kumar were declared winners. This result strengthened the NDA’s position in the Upper House.
Overall, the NDA alliance won eight seats, including one supported independent candidate. The outcome reflected the alliance’s strong presence in the contested states. However, the elections also saw competition in several constituencies.
Results Across States and Other Key Outcomes
In Odisha, five candidates contested for four seats. Meanwhile, three BJP candidates won, aided by cross-voting. This result highlighted shifting political dynamics in the state.
On the other hand, RJD candidate Amarendra Dhari C Singh lost despite receiving support from five AIMIM MLAs and one BSP MLA. This result came as a setback for the opposition in Bihar.
Earlier, several leaders were elected unopposed. These included Sharad Pawar and Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, who were among 26 candidates elected unanimously on March 9.
Therefore, the Nitish Kumar Rajya Sabha election results reflect a mix of contest and consensus across states. The outcomes have reinforced the NDA’s position while also highlighting key political developments in Bihar and Odisha.
