Hyderabad: The frustration of the public over ATMs in the city remaining dry took a twist on Tuesday when a youngster went on a rampage damaging ATM kiosks in Sultan Bazar, breaking the glass panes of two kiosks and in the process, injuring himself.
According to the police, the youngster, identified as Aamir Khan, was pursuing his diploma in civil engineering course and was going on his motorcycle when he was stopped by the Traffic Police around noon. He was asked to pay pending challans worth Rs.1,300. With the police seizing his bike and asking him to pay up if he wanted it released, Khan went to a nearby ATM.
With the ATM having no cash to dispense, Khan went in search of another and found one not too far from the first. There too, however, the result was the same. Frustrated over this, Khan vented his anger on the kiosk, breaking the glass panes with his knee. He repeated the same with the first kiosk as well, according to the police.
Khan, who injured his knee in the process, has been taken into custody.
