Hyderabad, April 23 (Maxim News): Tension escalated during the ongoing RTC strike after a driver allegedly attempted suicide at the Narsampet RTC depot in Warangal district on Thursday. The incident created fresh concern among employees protesting across Telangana.
The employee was identified as Shankar Goud, a driver working at the Narsampet depot. According to initial reports, he demanded that the government address the issues raised by RTC workers and then attempted self harm by pouring petrol on himself.
Colleagues and local people who noticed the incident reacted quickly. They stopped the attempt and rescued him before the situation turned fatal.
Shankar Goud suffered injuries in the incident. Therefore, officials and co workers immediately shifted him to a hospital in Warangal for treatment.
Hospital sources said doctors are providing medical care and monitoring his condition. Further details on the extent of injuries are awaited.
The incident has intensified anxiety among RTC employees as the strike continues across the state. Workers have been demanding resolution of several pending issues and urging the government to begin talks.
Meanwhile, protests, arrests and transport disruption have marked the strike in many districts over the past two days.
