Hyderabad, May 3: Telangana Cabinet Expansion is likely to be delayed as the Congress leadership reviews political developments at the national level. Party sources indicate that the decision may come only after clarity emerges from key state elections.
The Congress high command is closely watching the results in five states. In particular, developments in Kerala may play a crucial role. Therefore, leadership decisions in Kerala could influence the timing of cabinet expansion in Telangana.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is expected to have a significant say in the process. However, the final decision will rest with the party leadership. At the same time, reports suggest that the high command is not fully satisfied with the performance of some ministers. As a result, changes in the existing cabinet are also under consideration.
Telangana Cabinet Expansion may include new ministers
Sources indicate that the cabinet may be expanded by inducting two new ministers. One of the posts is likely to be allocated to a Scheduled Tribe leader. Names such as Balu Naik and Ramchandra Naik are being discussed, though no final decision has been taken.
Meanwhile, representation from the undivided Nizamabad district remains a concern. Senior leader P Sudarshan Reddy, who currently serves as an advisor with cabinet rank, could again be considered for induction into the cabinet.
There is also speculation around Mahesh Kumar Goud. However, indications suggest he may continue as PCC chief. The Chief Minister has emphasized maintaining a balance between party leadership and governance.
In addition, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy is hopeful of securing a cabinet berth. However, earlier discussions within the party reportedly opposed including both Komatireddy brothers in the cabinet. Therefore, the leadership may take a cautious approach.
Several other leaders are actively seeking positions. However, the party is expected to consider factors such as performance and social representation. If changes are made, replacements may come from the same social groups.
There is also talk of reshuffling key portfolios, including the Home department. However, a large scale reshuffle may create administrative complications. Hence, the leadership may proceed carefully.
Overall, Telangana Cabinet Expansion depends on broader political developments. The Congress high command is likely to take a final decision after completing internal consultations.
